What is the mission of AAMF?

AAM Foundation (AAMF) was established to provide underprivileged children with adequate nutrition, medication and education—giving them the chance to learn, grow and live with health, dignity and opportunity.

Does AAMF receive government funds?

AAMF is a non-governmental organization and does not receive any direct government funding. This is an important distinction, as it enables the foundation to remain independent.

How does AAMF raise funds?

AAMF is currently funded by various donors. New donors are invited to contribute funds, volunteer, sponsor, endorse, publicize, or help develop a project or initiative on behalf of the foundation. AAMF also manages a donor partnership program whose purpose is to expand the resources available for the organization’s programs and to increase the efficiency and quantity of charitable donations from individuals and other organizations.

How are the organization’s funds used?

More than 95% of funds raised are used for the following purposes:

  • Rent and maintenance for school premises.

  • Salaries for teachers and school support staff.

  • Lunch for children, 5-6 times a week depending on location, 52 weeks a year.

  • Medicines and other medical supplies.

  • School supplies for teachers and children, including backpacks, books and uniforms.

  • Local transportation expenses for volunteer doctors, nutritionists and other specialists who visit the schools.

Does AAMF share information about the project’s beneficiaries?

In keeping with a belief that the foundation’s purpose is to restore to children what is rightfully theirs (i.e. basic nutrition, medication and education), AAMF feels that its work should be transparent, accountable and open to any and all types of audit. As such, the organization provides detailed information of all children being supported under the AAMF program.

What are the demographics of participant children?

The foundation’s program targets children who live in environments where they are not being schooled. Currently the foundation is running its child sponsorship program in the slums in and around New Delhi, India.

What is the foundation’s target group?*

AAMF aims to support the following individuals:

  • Children in the age group of 5 - 14 years (the foundation ideally aims to have a 1:1 ratio of boys to girls in its schools).

  • Preference is given to single-parent children and orphans.

  • Mothers of one or two children who live in environments where they are likely to have additional children.

How are these children identified and inducted into the AAMF program?

The key aspect of the foundation’s work involves going door to door in Delhi’s impoverished areas to identify children who are not currently being schooled, do not have access to schools, or do not have the means to attend school. The AAMF field staff then works with these children and their mothers to motivate and assist them in getting enrolled in the foundation’s non-formal schools.
