Opening of Education Center  at Neb Sarai

AAMF opened its Education Center at Neb Sarai deep within the slums where these families live on the 4th of December 2000. This is used as a multifunctional place and all the activities are held here. On 19th December 2000, AAMF started Adult Literacy classes for the mothers of the destitute children during the evenings. Every Wednesday, the Doctor of our panel organizes a Charitable linic for the poor in that locality.

Nutritional Workshop

AAMF conducted two Nutrition workshops on 24th January 2000 and 4th April 2001 to increase awareness in making nutritious meals from locally available and affordable foods. A Dietician, Ms. Sunita facilitated these workshops

Family Planning Workshop

In coordination with Parivar Sewa Sanstha, a NGO, a couple of Family Planning Workshops were held on 1st April 2000 and 24th Nov. 2000 promoting the importance of small families. i.e. a maximum of 2 children. This had been an interactive forum where the mothers are also given individual counseling and provided with the medicines etc. at a lower price. 


Health Camp

A general Health Check up camp along with Blood tests and Stool tests for the children are held regularly. In fact we have had 5 camps conducted with the Doctor on our panel along with some specialist doctor and in coordination with the hospital in the same locality. Rotary Inner Wheel organized a similar camp for various tests on 15th October 2000.In coordination with PSS, we conducted a Hemoglobin test on 26th March 2001for the ladies of our program and also the other ladies in the vicinity. They were given individual counseling and Iron tablets were prescribed to them.

2nd May 2001 – AIDS Awareness

On 2nd May 2001, we organized a talk for these destitute ladies on awareness of AIDS. They were totally unaware of its existence and the facilitator, Ms. Sangeeta had a very interactive session. 

Drawing and Singing Competition

 
Regular competitions are held for the children conducted by the Education Service Coordinator. On 3rd October 2000, we had a Painting workshop followed by the assessment of the children. On 14th November 2000, as part of the Children's Day celebrations, AAMF conducted a Singing competition where all the children had taken part. On the occasion of Republic Day, 26th January 2001, the children had drawn and colored the Indian Tri colored flag.


2nd March 2001 – Educational Trip

An Educational trip was organized for the children of AAMF – Neb Sarai center to the Railway Museum on 2nd March 2001. They were told of the revolution and development of the Railways from Steam engines to Diesel engines and then to Electric engines.
